Ivy's and Koby’s Love Story

I’m Ivy, and my love of cooking began in childhood. 

At eight years old, I began making full meals for my family — building flavors until each dish came to life. Food became my language of love and connection.

Years in the restaurant world sharpened my skills, but my dream was to create something that felt true — something spirited, lighthearted, and wildly joyful.

That’s when I started experimenting with infused salts at home. My first creation — salt layered with red wine — became the inspiration for The Salted Roots.

I’m Ivy, and my love of cooking began in childhood. 

And the beautiful journey that followed would not be possible without the people I cherish.

There was my grandpa fiery, full of life, and like a father to me. Every time I build a bold, spicy flavor, I feel him near. It’s how I remember him.

There’s my mom who helped me bottle and label jars late into the night when the business was just taking shape.

And then there’s Koby. On our very first date, he tasted my Red Wine Salt on a steak, looked at me and was hooked. From that moment on, he’s been my partner in life and in craft developing recipes, nurturing community, and building this dream with me, one ingredient at a time.

And the beautiful journey that followed would not be possible without the people I cherish.

Some ideas begin with a craving. Others with a memory.

Breakfast Salt was born from a craving for waffles smoky, sweet, kissed with maple and spice.

Giving Thanks Salt came from the memory of my grandma’s stuffing a way to give warmth, comfort, and a piece of home.

Summer Salt arrived one winter’s day, when I envisioned turning a fresh peach salad into a sprinkle of summer sunshine.

Some ideas begin with a craving. Others with a memory.

Some are playful. Others, nostalgic. But every blend is made with love.

No matter how far our jars travel — to restaurants, kitchens, and hearts across the country — The Salted Roots will always remain a small-batch business in Utah, celebrating the joy of good food, awesome adventures, and simply being together.
