FAQ

What are your products made with? Every jar of The Salted Roots is small-batch and handcrafted right here in Utah. We infuse pure coarse salt or raw sugar with real ingredients — herbs, fruits, spices, maple syrup, smoked meats, wine, spirits, and more. No artificial flavors, no artificial colors, no preservatives. What you taste is exactly what went in: honest, bold, vibrant flavor made slowly and layered deeply.

Are your products gluten-free? Yes! All of our infused salts and sugars are made with natural, gluten-free ingredients — so everyone at the table can enjoy them.

How much product is in each jar? Each standard jar contains 4oz (113g) of product — enough to season, finish, and flavor your way through dozens of meals. Our mini bundle jars are smaller, making them perfect for gifting or trying something new before committing to a full jar.

How should I store my salt or sugar? Store your jar in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Always keep the lid tightly sealed after use to preserve the freshness and intensity of the infusion. No refrigeration needed.

How long do the products last? Our infused salts and sugars have a long shelf life — typically 1 to 2 years when stored properly. Because we use no artificial preservatives, the key is keeping them sealed and away from moisture. The flavor is best in the first year, but they'll last well beyond that.

What can I use these on? The short answer? Almost everything. Our salts are made for grilling, roasting, sautéing, baking, finishing dishes, and rimming cocktail glasses. Our sugars shine in coffee, cocktails, baking, and anywhere you want a touch of something unexpected. Each product page includes a "Creative Uses" section with specific ideas, and our Recipes page has full recipes to get you started.

Do you offer free shipping? Yes! We offer free shipping on all orders over $60. Stock up on a few jars or grab a bundle and you're covered.

How long does shipping take? Orders are typically processed and shipped within 2–3 business days. Delivery times vary based on your location, but most domestic orders arrive within 5–7 business days of shipping.

Do you sell at any physical locations or markets? Yes! You can find The Salted Roots at local farmers markets, weekend pop-ups, and partner shops across Utah. Our community partners include Utah's Own, Atelier (SLC), Hotel Monaco, The Neighborhood Hive, Water & Wellness, Millcreek Common, Wild Desert Rose Boutique, Indigo Highway (Park City) and more. Who started The Salted Roots? The Salted Roots was founded by Ivy Sommer, a lifelong cook who has been building flavors in the kitchen since she was eight years old. Her first creation — a salt infused with red wine — became the spark that started it all. Today, Ivy runs the business alongside her husband Koby, and together they handcraft every batch with the same care, intention, and love that went into that very first jar. The Salted Roots is a woman-owned, small-batch business proudly made in Utah.
